Exercise 1 - Manage Power Settings
Windows 10 offers a wide variety of settings in the Power options from either Control Panel, the Settings window to optimize system performance or power management using customizable power plans to utilize energy on your computer efficiently.
With power plan settings, you can customize display brightness, when a computer sleeps and to when to turn off the display. In addition, there is a setting on what happens when the lid is closed if Windows 10 is running on a laptop computer.
Windows 10 uses the “Balanced” power plan by default. There are other plans namely Power saver; this saves energy by reducing your computer’s performance; High performance, this favors performance but may use more energy; Ultimate performance, this provides ultimate performance on higher-end PCs. Note that Ultimate performance is not available unless Windows 10 Spring Creators Update version 1803 build 17101 is installed.
Exercise 2 - Configure File Explorer Settings
Windows 10 added some improvements in managing files and folders in File Explorer with the use of Quick Access view. Quick access provides an at-a-glance view of common folders such as Desktop, Downloads, Documents, Pictures, Music, and Videos. As the user continues to open folders in File Explorer, Quick access continues to build the list to include frequently accessed folders. Similarly, a user can pin folders to organize commonly-used folders for efficient folder management on his device.
Searching through a collection of folders within File Explorer is as simple as typing a string or a sequence of characters such as letters, numbers in the search box. You can search based on a specific file name, a wildcard character using an extension name such as “*.txt” or based on the content within a file.
