The Configure BitLocker module provides you with the instruction and server hardware to develop your hands on skills in the defined topics. This module includes the following exercises:
- Configuring Windows BitLocker
- Using Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Monitoring
Exercise 1 - Configuring Windows BitLocker
BitLocker is a full disk encryption security feature that was first introduced in Windows Vista and further enhanced in the later Windows versions. The BitLocker encryption remains enforced even when the computer is turned off. Therefore, this technology ensures confidentiality of disk contents even against ‘offline attacks’ made by disabling Windows or physically removing the hard disk to view the contents on another computer.
BitLocker uses Trusted Platform Module (TPM) that provides integrated protection for Windows and data files during boot phase of the operating system. TPM is a microchip embedded on a system motherboard and can be enabled using the BIOS of the computer system.
Exercise 2 - Using Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Monitoring
Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP) includes an application called Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Monitoring (MBAM) for managing and monitoring BitLocker enabled volumes on a Windows computer.
In this exercise, you will download MDOP 2015 and then install MBAM client utility.
