Exercise 1 - Manage Hyper-V
Hyper-V is a machine virtualization platform from Microsoft that enables you to install and run multiple 32-bit or 64-bit OS in parallel on the same machine. This enables you to work on various OS without having to invest in expensive computer hardware. In addition, you can use Hyper-V to install and test virtual machines of various configurations without affecting the functionality of other virtual or physical machines.
For Hyper-V service to run in Windows 10, the computer hardware must have a 64-bit processor that supports second level address translation (SLAT), at least 4 GB of system memory and BIOS-level virtualization support. During a restart, invoke the system BIOS to verify hardware virtualization support on your computer.
In this exercise, you will create a guest virtual machine then perform a simple installation of Windows 10.
Exercise 2 - Manage Virtual Machine Checkpoints
Checkpoints in Hyper-V gives you the capability to take a snapshot of the current state of your virtual machine. The created checkpoint provides a reference when performing a rollback of the virtual machine to an earlier system state. This feature enables you to undo non-essential or unintended modifications to the guest virtual machine. Similarly, you can create more than one checkpoint to capture the system setting of a guest virtual machine to a point-in-time. This gives you the advantage and flexibility of having multiple system states of a virtual machine.
