The Configure and Manage Backups module provides you with the instruction and Server hardware to develop your hands on skills. This module includes the following exercises:

  1. Configure Windows Server Backup
  2. Configure Role Specific Backups
  3. Using VSSAdmin
  4. Using Windows Online Backup

Exercise 1 - Configure Windows Server Backup

In this exercise, you will install and configure Windows Server 2012 R2’s native backup software.

Exercise 2 - Configure Role-Specific Backups

In this exercise you will perform a system state backup on a domain controller.

Exercise 3 - Using VSSAdmin

In this exercise, you will learn how to use vssadmin.exe to display current volume shadow copy backups and installed shadow copy writers and providers.

Exercise 4 - Using Windows Online Backup

Microsoft Azure is a cloud service where you can install and configure Windows Servers without buying expensive hardware equipment, as all you need is reliable and fast Internet connection.

Windows Online Backup is one of the components available in Microsoft Azure. This service provides the capability to backup your local files in the cloud. This service is built on the Windows Azure platform. Windows Server 2012 uses the downloadable Microsoft Online Backup Service.

You can sign up for Windows Azure on a trial basis to see if it meets your organization’s requirements or if you just want to find out how this Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) works.
