Introduction

The Administering Databases module provides you with the instruction and server hardware to develop your hands on skills in the defined topics. This module includes the following exercises:

  1. Securing Databases

  2. Backing up and Restoring Database

Exercise 1- Securing Databases

In this exercise, you will learn the following in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2:

  • Create logins and users for a database using T-SQL and using SSMS
  • Grant database permissions and roles using T-SQL and using SSMS

Exercise 2 - Backing up and Restoring Database

In this exercise, you will learn the following in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2:

  • Create a full, differential, and transaction log database backups using T-SQL and SSMS
  • Restore a database using T-SQL and SSMS
