The Q & A

Tell us about yourself:

"My name is Hamza M’hirsi, I am 23 years old, from Tunisia (I am the first Tunisian guy that works as an instructor in Cybrary), I work as a security analyst and a Pentester in Barac company. I have CCNA Security (Cisco Certified Network Associate) and Linux Administrator certificates (Linux Professional Institute). I wrote different articles about cybersecurity on Peerlyst (Like How to attack Windows 7 using Metasploit, How To Attack Windows Server 2012 R2 using Eternalblue, Evilginx2 MiTm, How can we detect it, and too many others). I recently wrote a book with my friends called “Red Team Guide”, a new book called “Mastering Kali Linux” will be released soon.In this period, I am working to learn different techniques used in malware detection and response, I believe that when I understand perfectly how things work, I can find a better solution and discover too many new things. In my free time, I do magic tricks."

What brought you to teaching on Cybrary:

"When I was 16, I was fascinated by the security field. One day I asked why I don't try to learn new things in cybersecurity? The first day I opened YouTube and I tried to begin security from zero, however, each time I begin a video I feel like the guy talking is speaking a new language that I don't understand. I tried to google everything I don't understand it, but that was so difficult, even when I look into the definition I don't understand it.At that time, learning security was really hard, at some level I believed that this field is too hard and I need to grow up to understand it. Giving up was not a solution especially when I read an article that explains what knowledge I need to be a security guy. From web site to another, I discovered Cybrary, at that moment I loved the Logo, (that’s really strange :p ) and I said "here is the platform where I will begin", from course to another I learned new things and I was amazed by the instructors. I didn't even imagine that one day, I can be one of them. One day, I opened my email and I found that I can apply in Cybrary us an Instructor. I didn't think twice and I sent my CV, and here I am."

Tell us about your course:

"Red Teaming was seen as a useful tool for generals to evaluate the security posture, RedTeam, therefore, took on the role of the aggressors or “bad guys”. The bad guys do not follow the rules but utilized in a controlled way simulating and emulating what the bad guys can do, Red Teaming serves to help the defenders spot, respond and stop attacks as well as strengthen and improve. In this course, we will discover together what is Red team? Why Red Teaming is important? How we can have as successful Red Team? Also, we will learn the different techniques used in Red Teaming, methodology, perspective, tools used, and the phases needed during a Red Team mission. During this course, we will learn together the different attacks that can be used by Red Team Members either physical attacks or network ones.We will introduce the Red Team as a job where we will talk about privacy and the liability of the job. We can't talk about the Red Team job without mentioning the benefits that we can have. Finally, we will talk about the Blue Team and its importance, and we will mention how the Blue Team and The Red Team can work together."

Education/Experience in Cyber Security:

"Since college, I tried too many different pentest tools but I didn’t get how they really work, as the documentations are really hard to understand, but that didn’t stop me from using such tools. Even sometimes I don’t understand the output. When I went to TEK-UP school in 2016, I asked the administration with my friends, if they can offer a cybersecurity degree, hopefully, they agreed to. I studied cybersecurity for two years and now I work as a security analyst in Barac. During those years, I learned too many things, I got different certificates and I wrote different articles. All that work helped me to know too many good people that helped me during my career."

Interests in Cyber Security:

"I am not planning to do the same job each day creating web sites and applications. In cybersecurity each moment I can learn a new thing, where I feel like whatever the time I spend studying and learning I can’t discover and understand everything. Security is a big ocean, and this is what keeps me attached to that field. I really agree that some technology or attacks are really difficult and we need too much knowledge to understand them. The question that I always ask, if I can understand my field in just five years, what will I do during the rest of my life?"
