Regarding Cloud technologies, there are two sides of the story: on the one hand, there are suppliers of new technologies that, as always move forward, and on the other hand, users who do not want to change anything won’t change anything. So let’s try to approach this “problem” with win-win solutions for both sides, but with emphasis on the end user. I believe that IT giants will push the cloud agenda – Microsoft, Amazon, Oracle, SAP, IBM, Google etc. – and eventually use any cloud model -SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, XaaS – which will become the standard for most organizations.

Costs, Costs ...

The first and most important thing that always stands out as the advantage of the cloud is lower costs. And savings can really be huge because cloud service providers are counting on the game of large numbers. Cloud involves large amounts of everything – reeds with processors, memory, disks, communication modules and associated equipment.

The whole thing may look significantly different if you already have an IT sector in which you have invested significant funds and already works according to your needs. It is unlikely that the need for hardware recovery will occur at the same time when your software licenses expire and when the time comes to renew the contract with your service provider. The fact is that companies that have more serious IT sectors better understand these issues, and even though we are defending the cloud, you do not have to migrate immediately. It can be a complex and expensive process, so be sure to consider integrating your IT sector and cloud services.

If you need to change or add some hardware, consider that these are virtual machines in the cloud. With elastic contracts, you can also achieve the fact that the rented virtual machines get more processor and memory resources when it comes to quarterly or final billing, or when you need a very detailed review of what you’ve done in the previous period and how to direct new business ambitions.

All-in-one: Full Services

Cloud providers cannot offer you only virtual machines and leave you alone to deal with them. When the problem is solved, the issue a serious data center will face is trying to install at least the operating system on virtual machines, and it will again get better arrangements with the software vendors in view of the quantities involved. It’s similar to other types of software, such as the usual office applications, to ERP, CRM or BI solutions for which the company places significant resources.

More and more manufacturers of these serious business tools have decided to offer their solutions in the cloud, and the reasons for it are more than enough. First, the implementation has a higher certainty of availability and it’s faster. The man (or team) in charge of the implementation always works on a “familiar field” when it comes to the cloud. In a local IT environment, you never know what you will find – the bug may be a bare piece of hardware, but also outdated or un-managed basic software (server). Even the need for a small increase in memory or disk space can be a problem, which virtual cloud infrastructure trivially solves.

The magical moments of cloud solutions include the ability to upgrade software on the whole infrastructure with one go, even if it counts thousands of servers and workstations. As a user, you will always work on the latest, updated version of the software. And this fear from the new version – what problems it brings, where menu items and why icons have changed places – is one of the biggest obstacles to updating software in the firm. Now one expert will carefully check and activate the software only if they are certain that everything works properly.

Conclusion

Think once again before a quick decision, because it is convenient that your “IT guru” first tested the clouds solution divisions, instructing others to come to a new way in what they have been doing for the past 10 years in the same way or simply The fastest can explain to the cloud provider where the problem is to be resolved. Keep it for at least another time, because these computers always make some problems, even when solutions are newer, more flexible, more scalable, faster, safer, and even cheaper – like a cloud solution.
My personal advice to end users is to try something less expensive and go step by step. For example, start using Outlook email from Microsoft, based on Exchange online cloud platform. Then, if this satisfies needs, saves money, the next step could be SharePoint or Office 365, and some kind of CRM from Oracle, SAP, Microsoft, Salesforce it depends on needs and personal choice. Those are all SaaS models of clouds, and I am sure it will satisfy all business needs, but please before deal analyze your IT department situation with help of VAR-resellers, and then after they give you offer, guarantees, explain what kind of support they are providing, security issues etc.-Then go for it!!
